Pondering

These are questions for prayer, for pondering, for journaling, for discussion. My prayer is that we share our thoughts with each other as we commune with our God, as we invite guests to go on site visits and as we join together to learn about our finalist ministries.
Pondering

Paul encouraged us in 1 Timothy 6: 19 to "take hold of life that really is life." Life that is truly Biblically meaningful is rooted in caring most for the concerns of God. He cares that we do good, are rich in good works, are generous and are ready to share. Did you notice that Paul lists these qualities of a life that is intimately tied to Jesus and then pronounces the blessing? When we care most for His concerns and are responsible for them, then we please God! (Hebrews 13:16) And as pastor Craig Groeschel writes in Weird, Because Normal Isn't Working, "The Bible consistently and directly indicates that when we give generously, we're serving, honoring, and glorifying God. After all, generosity is fundamental to God's nature." We honor & glorify Him as we serve & give.

So, we in 100 Shares focus on living these words of service, giving and sharing; we put these words into action. We live them. We strive to honor and glorify God. We share monetary gifts that are bundled into a grant to a local non-profit Christian ministry. That ministry is able to use this gift to take the next step in service to the poor, needy and lost. The ministry is not hindered in moving to a next step because of debt.

So we share…
…and we can do more together. In Ecclesiastes 4: 9 we read that two are better than one in service. Turning to 1 Corinthians Paul writes, "For we are God's servants, working together." (I Cor. 3: 9) Doing ministry together in Christ's name affords us strength from each other, a way to lift each other up and a good reward in our toil. We band together in a profound way to impact Tampa Bay with the good news of Christ.

All of these thoughts make me wonder:

  • what brought you to this time of sharing in your life?
  • how is your journey of generosity challenging you now?
  • would you share a favorite resource on generosity?
  • how did you learn about unselfishness, sharing, and generosity?
  • what insight have you discovered in your life of giving good things to others freely and abundantly?
  • how has serving together as partners impacted your daily life?

These are questions for prayer, for pondering, for journaling, for discussion. My prayer is that we share our thoughts with each other as we commune with our God, as we invite guests to go on site visits and as we join together to learn about our finalist ministries.

Update:  you have shared 4 possible names for this blog; I am pausing before deciding on its final name; maybe there are more ideas out there? I thank all who shared possible blog names—they help me ponder about sharing and generosity and love.
